POEMS

I had the honored to meet some amazing people at the Molo Songololo children rights organization while in Capetown on tour with Kylie Mingoue. It was our last stop of the 7 month world tour. A couple of us meet with 2 young ladies from the group and listen to their stories that brought inspiration, tears, and hope all at the same time.
Charmaine Smith one of the head directors of the organization was kind enough to email me some of the poems that the girls wrote at one of their workshop. I will like to share with the world 4 poems I hope you will enjoy it .

Impact

Life is a journey. A journey with high-fields, low-fields, darkness and forest. In other words it is a gift
that impact ones dreams of being successful in life one day. Impact makes impact on peoples’ lives,
decision and life-long roles. It does not matter where you come from. What matters is where you
are going with the same impact in you. You can go anywhere in life. Yesterday is not the same as
today and tomorrow will never be the same. So every day is different. Have an impact in life. Have
gratitude, because in life you reap what you sow. Impact you and others and our world will be the
better place.

Teenagers

What did we do as teenagers to deserve this?

What we get - is it because we’re teenagers?

But we should be treated equally.

Teenagers don’t let your light turn to darkness.

Don’t let your smile turn to a frown.

So hold on to your beauty.

Be strong so that nothing can destroy your peace of mind.

Work so hard that the whole world is on your side –

Not in loud words but in great deeds.

A Dream

By Nozuko Lebaka

A dream is like a vision.

Sort of television.

A dream like only inspire the dreamer.

A dream never dies, its only the dreamer who dies.

A dream is something that one holds onto.

It is the thing that you live for.

You give all your life to it.

You have to hold onto it.

Because it is what you want to achieve in life.

If you want to achieve your dreams,

You must be an early bird, because early birds they know which time to wake up.

I once heard that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a simple step.

Start dreaming now and work towards that dream,

Because.. a dream never dies, only the dreamer who dies.

Life

By Nozuko Lebaka

Life is a journey,

A journey with highs, low-fields, darkness and forests.

So dark that you don’t even see the bright sight of it.

It is the gift given to everyone

to live it in the very best of his or her ability.

Believing in his or herself because there is no other life ,

so you must live it at your best.

Life is a mountain so high, not easy to be climbed.

But there is nothing impossible.

The attitude of anything is possible.

It takes somebody miles away in life.

Life is not about what you give,

because what you give is also what you gonna get.

So give love and you gonna get love, not hatred.

God blessed us with Life.

A wonderful journey of a person.

An image that can never be forgotten.

That’s how one should live his or her life.

A person has got one life,

So live it the very best you can.

My Experience hearing the Dali Lama Speak

On June 13, 2011 on my day off I had the honor to hear the Dali Lama speak in Melbourne, Australia. I woke up around 8am that morning to give myself enough time to get ready and walk to the convention center. I wore my white clothes to bring in purity, patience, calmness, and light energy to myself and those around me. As I was walking to the convention center I couldn't believe that I was about to see and hear his Holiness. When I arrived my soul was in such joy to be surrounded by hundreds of monks, Buddhists, and believers in one place. All I saw was smiles and kind eyes everywhere. When it was time they escorted us to the auditorium which was filled about 300 people. It started with a 30 minute meditation prior to his arrival to set a peaceful environment .When he walked on stage the whole room stood up with their hands in "NAMASTE"(prayer hands) and it was nothing but silence. His presence walking on stage was like watching a supernatural just arriving on earth lol. You can feel the energy of the people in the room jumping with excitement without physically doing it.
He was escorted on to the throne by 3 monks, 1 who helped him take off his shoes and 2 taking each of his hand aiding him up the steps to his seat. Once he sat we all took our seats. He began with his teachings for about 3 hrs for the 1st half we took a hour lunch break and than we began the last part for another 3 hrs. During the break I walked around and looked at each vendor had food and let my mind take rest from the teachings. I also had the privileged to watch the monks finish up the Mandala which I was honored to get some of the sand at the end of the ceremony.

I will like to share some of the teachings on "A BODHISATTVA'S WAY OF LIFE" that I grasped from the 14th Dali Lama

SERVE OTHERS IF NOT LISTEN TO OTHERS

MOTIVATION & COMPASSION

PUT LOVE IN ACTION

GOD MEANS INFINITE LOVE

ULTIMATE SOURCE OF SUFFERING IS IGNORANCE

ATTACHMENT= DESIRE OF THE SUFFERING FEELING
DESIRE OF THE PASSION FEELING

SOURCE OF PLEASURE & SUFFERING CREATES MORE ATTACHMENT

DESIRE & ATTACHMENT ARE 2 DIFFERENT FEELINGS

ONCE YOU BUILD ATTACHMENT IT PRODUCES A BIAIST FEELING WHICH YOU CAN'T SEE THE REAL BEAUTY OF ITS ESSENCE.

ATTACHMENT IS ONLY DEVELOP BY FEELING

SELFISHNESS= NOTHINGNESS

EXISTENCE COMES WITH EVERY FACT

GIVE BIRTH TO AN AWAKENING MIND

BODHISATTVA VOW
I GO FOR REFUGE TO THE THREE JEWELS
I CONFESS INDIVIDUALLY ALL MY NEGATIVITY
I REJOICE IN THE MERIT OF MIGRATING BEINGS
I TAKE HOLD WITH MY MIND THE PERFECT STATE OF BUDDHA

DETERMINATION TO SERVE AND HELP OTHERS

VISUALIZE BUDDHA AND ALL MASTERS IN YOUR MEDITATION

WHILE IN CYCLIC EXISTENCE , HOW CAN I BE JOYFUL AND UNAFRAID
IF IN MY HEART, I READILY PREPARE A PLACE
FOR THIS INCESSANT ENEMY OF LONG DURATION
THE SOLE CAUSE FOR THE INCREASE OF ALL THAT HARMS ME?

MAKE EFFORT TO COMEBACK THAT INNER ENEMY

DELUSION COMES FROM MENTAL EXAGGERATION
THEY HAVE NO REAL ORIGIN OF ITS EXISTENCE

6 WAYS OF LIVING
GENEROSITY
PATIENCE
ENTHUSIASM
CONCENTRATION
DISCIPLINE
WISDOM
MEDITATION

BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU KEEP MENTALLY

THE MIND IS THE ROOT OF ALL

YOUR OWN SUFFERING HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND OTHER PEOPLE SUFFERING

ENEMY IS THE BEST TEACHER TO PRACTICE PATIENCE, TOLERANCE, AND PEACE OF MIND

RELAX GET REST SO YOU CAN HAVE MORE ENERGY & MOTIVATION TO CONTINUE

WHEN MY STRENGTH DECLINES
IS SHOULD LEAVE WHATEVER I AM DOING
IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH IT LATER
HAVING DONE SOMETHING WELL, I SHOULD PUT IT ASIDE
WITH THE WISH (TO ACCOMPLISH) WHAT WILL FOLLOW.

THE DAILY WORD

Free
I am free to be joyful, playful and loving.

Some may wait for the end of the school year, the end of a work week, or the end of a project to feel free. I am not bound by any circumstance, pattern or habit in my outer conditions; I am free always!

Today I choose to be joyful, playful and loving. I am not limited by location, schedule, day or habit. Nothing has the power to limit my ability to enjoy this day. When I choose to be joyful, I call forth the joy that is within me and I express it. Choosing to be playful, I allow the flow of creativity to enliven the simple activities of my day. I give love by sharing smiles and laughter with those around me.

Nothing limits my ability to choose my attitude. Acting from that freedom, I choose to be joyful, playful and loving.
And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.--Zechariah 8:5
